Dear NC Pickleball Enthusiast,
Well, we got close.
We needed 300 paid applications to move forward with the Specialty Pickleball Plate, and we got 252.
I and Rep. Jake Johnson’s office have been working the phones with the NCDMV for the past couple of days, seeing if there was any wiggle room in the 300 number. No luck — the 300 requirement is essentially written in stone, as part of NC state law.
FULL REFUNDS are going out today (2/12). If you sent a check, it is being returned to you uncashed. If you used a debit/credit card, a refund is being issued and will take 5-10 business days to process and appear on your statement.
Many thanks to Bob Nibarger, Jon Post, Rocket Grubbs, Sharon MacKenzie, Richard Holloman, Marcus Luke, Rick Lasky, Rodney Allman, and Corrine Carr for helping so much in getting the word out.
Just as many thanks to all of you, too, for doing the same online and in your local clubs, and for getting out your checkbook to try and make this happen.
Maybe we can try again next year.
Until then, please be on the lookout for the all-new Turtle Paddle from Vulcan Pickleball, available June 1 on Amazon, Pickleball Central, and from your local Vulcan Dealer!
A portion of the proceeds from each paddle sold will be donated to the The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center — another great cause near and dear to my heart — right here in Surf City, North Carolina!

See you on the courts,

Chris Allen
